Internal Labour Costing is included on every plan, from Pro through Growth.
On an older or grandfathered plan? Your feature limits may differ from the table above. Get in touch with our support team to check what's included on your specific plan.
Which plan should I start on?
Every plan includes the same core inventory tracking and costing tools. What determines which plan you need is how many order line items you process each month — not how long you’ve been in business or which sales channel you sell on.
If you’re new to Stocksmith or only have a handful of orders each month, start with Pro. It’s our lowest-priced plan and covers up to 25 order line items a month — see plan pricing below. As your order volume grows, move up to Studio, Indie, Business, or Growth to match.
One exception: if you sell on more than one channel — for example, Etsy and Shopify — you’ll need at least Studio, since Pro only supports a single integration.
Not sure how many order line items you’ll have yet? Pick your best estimate. You’re not locked in — changing your plan takes just a few clicks whenever your volume changes.
Order line items and your plan limit
Each plan allows a set number of order line items per month — that’s what the ranges in the table above are counting. When your account goes over its plan’s limit, you’re moved up to the next plan automatically.
What is an order line item?
An order line item is any unique product in an order. If an order contains three different products, that’s an order line item total of three — regardless of how many of each product was ordered.
How we calculate your average
Your Average Monthly Order Line Item Count (AMOLIC) is a simple average, recalculated daily. We total your processed order line items over a set period and divide by the number of months in it, rounding down.
- On a monthly plan, we use your last three months of order data.
- On an annual plan, we use up to your last twelve months of order data (starting from your account’s start date, if you haven’t been with us that long).
Example:
Jane is on a monthly plan. Between January 12th and April 12th, her account processed 731 order line items. Divided by three months and rounded down, that’s an average monthly order line item count of 243.
Liam is on an annual plan. Over the past twelve months, his account processed 14,608 order line items. Divided by twelve months and rounded down, that’s an average of 1,217.
If your order volume has busy and quiet seasons, an annual plan smooths this out over twelve months instead of three — worth considering if a few peak months would otherwise push a monthly average over your plan’s limit.
What happens as you approach your limit
When your average reaches 80% of your current plan’s limit, we email you a heads-up. If it reaches 100%, your account is automatically upgraded to the next plan with enough room for your order volume.
The upgrade happens immediately, not at your next renewal. Reaching 100% of your plan’s limit triggers a prorated charge for the new plan straight away — on whatever day that happens to be, not your regular billing date.
For example: if you’re on Studio (limit 250) and your average is recalculated to 322, you’re moved onto Indie as soon as that’s confirmed, even if your subscription isn’t due to renew for weeks.
Want to move to a lower plan instead? You can, as long as your average order line item count is below that plan’s limit.
Where can I see my line item usage?
You can check your current Average Monthly Order Line Item Count from your account settings:
- Hover your mouse over the slider icon in the top right-hand menu.
- Select Your plan and billing.
- On the next page, you’ll see your plan details along with your Average Order Line Item Count.
Plan Questions
Below are some common questions we receive about our plans. If you don't see the answer to your question here, please feel free to reach out to our support team.
In this section:
- How much does Stocksmith cost?
- How do I subscribe to a plan?
- How long is the free trial?
- Is it possible to get an extension on my free trial?
- Can I switch plans during the trial?
- What are order line items?
How much does Stocksmith cost?
Our plans are designed to scale with your business, and you can choose between monthly or annual billing (annual plans include 2 months free!).
Current prices for every plan are on the Stocksmith pricing page, which is always up to date and reflects any sale we are running.
Which plan you need is decided by your monthly order line item count rather than by price. The plan comparison above shows the limit for each plan, and what are order line items? explains how that count works.
How do I subscribe to a plan?
You can subscribe to a plan before or after your trial as expired. To subscribe to a plan, follow the instructions here.
How long is the free trial?
You have 2 weeks from the time you sign up.
Can I get an extension on my free trial?
Yes — if you need a bit more time, reach out to our support team and we’ll add a one-off 7-day extension to your trial.
Can I switch plans during the trial?
Sure! If you would like to try a different plan while in your free trial period, please get in touch and we'll be happy to arrange this for you.
What are order line items?
Order line items refer to the individual products in your orders. For instance, if you sell candles and receive an order for two different candles, that counts as two order line items. See Order line items and your plan limit above for how we calculate your average and what happens near your plan’s limit.
