How to add an Order

Add a new order, including a brand-new customer, without leaving the page

Got a walk-up sale at a market or a first-time wholesale buyer? You don't need to stop and set up their contact record separately first — you can add a new customer right from the order form and keep the sale moving.

This walkthrough covers the order form step by step, including the shortcut for adding a new customer on the spot.

Add an order

To add a new order:

  1. Go to Orders in the main menu.
  2. Click Add Order in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter an Order Code, or leave it blank and the app will assign one automatically.
  4. Search for the customer in the Customer field, or add a new one on the spot — see Add a new customer without leaving the form below.
  5. Select a Delivery Address for the order, if one applies.
  6. Choose the date the order was placed.
  7. Click Add Order Item for each product in the order, then choose the correct variation if the product has one.
  8. Enter any discount, shipping, or tax that applies to the order.
  9. Mark the order Paid if the customer has already paid. Leave it blank if not — this has no effect on your inventory or reporting.
  10. Click Save Order.

Add a new customer without leaving the form

A customer is a type of contact you can attach to an order. If you're selling to someone for the first time, you don't need to visit the Contacts page before you start the order.

  1. In the Customer field, click the plus icon next to the search box.
  2. Fill in the new customer's details in the form that opens.
  3. Click Save.

The form closes and the customer's name fills in the Customer field automatically. If you entered a delivery address for the new customer, it's selected in the Delivery Address field too — no extra steps needed.
